Hi all

About 3 weeks ago i found a link to download GPM2 and was very happy to be playing an F1 manager sim, i then decided i would see if EBay had any copies of the game and ended up buying GPM, GPM2 and GPW.

I had a little mess around on GPM but was amazed at the fuel bug and tyre bug, which would see a driver use 2 laps of fuel per lap, and tyre wear increase from an average of 3% to 10% which ment many times i would have to make 3 stop strategies.

I then started messing around on GPM2 but it was like playing GPM just a little nicer and so i then bourght GPW from EBay, i was taken back by the difference between GPM2 and GPW, and i have to admit i love the look and layout of GPW even though i haven't got use to the game yet i have managed to work out some of the things like developing this session and next sessions car's.

My questions are, is it really worth spending the extra time developing your current car when you could be working harder on next seasons car and finishing well ahead of scedule after all wouldn't it be better to make sure next seasons car is finished first and then focus on your current car?

I have worked out how to sign contracts with sponsors which i found interesting and more like real life as its a lot more challanging, i was almost near to resigning a works deal with Mecades engines but i decided i would start with a smaller team since i'm not good enough to challange for either title and McLarens goal is to win both titles. Shocked

I was thinking of Minardi because they only require 1 point but i don't know if i understand enough about the game to keep the team alive, i have downloaded the save games but they are in another language so the FIA news section is not in English so i don't know what is been said. Crying or Very sad

I was going to use the Jordan save to learn as i have already removed the other saves because i don't like to cheat, i just want to learn the main area's on how to improve the car's fast, repair the car's for the race weekend, my mistake was i repaired them before testing so they was about 38% wear rates.

So basically i just need help with learning how to improve a team, i will race with the Minardi team because i'm sure there was a save file for that team, i will have to redownload it though but if you can help me understand what i should focus on, how much comercial staff i should spend on VIP etc etc and then i can test it all out and if i understand i will restart and play a normal game without the save but on till thenm i don't feel confident. Laughing

I will also add the 2006 update one day but for now i'm happy with the original game, i did hear that their was a 2008 update out aswell, i can't find that on the forum though. Crying or Very sad

There are some help files at one of the game creators site.

For smaller teams you can use the free testing miles and improve this years car with 1 or 2 races work on each stage so you get an improvement of 1% or 2%. You can still sign some sponsors with low star ratings in the hospitality section.

Here is the 2007 season. and here are other seasons, including 2008. 1998 and 1999 will be up soon, I have to make sure the cars appear in the races and the 1999 teams are in the right order.

Thanks bud, that will come in very useful. In the end i decided to use Ferrari because their goal is to either win or finish 2nd in the contructors championship which i'm leading both titles in the build up to the Monaco GP. Very Happy

When i have completed the 10 seasons with Ferrari i will upgrade the game to the 2008 season in less 2009 is out by then (i only get to play every few weeks) Crying or Very sad

I did cheat though, i used the save file editor to give Ferrari 99 million starting budget and 40 excellent staff members for all categories ie, developement, mechanics etc etc.

McLaren is still a little faster than me and Benetton's Fisichella can from time to time snatch the pole off me, i've noticed when i don't use the save file editor the weather is normally sunny, but when i use the editor its alway's random weather in qualifiying. The weather alway's seems to change to dry when Williams heads out on track but changes if i send a driver out. Twisted Evil

Never the less i have won only 2 races and scored 42 points leading the driver's championship by 9 points and the constructors championship by i think 7 points, i need to win some races and Irvine needs to start finishing the races, he seems to suffer with problems in the races all the time.

But then i do use all the car setup points on Schumacher's car. Laughing i have already maxed the tyres and fuel R&D and almost done the same with the engines too, the 1999 car is been built and some parts are having reliability improvements made to them.

Anyway i'm going on and on here so i will stop before this turns into a life story of the first half of the season. Rolling Eyes
